Hotel contract management is one of the most critical links in the operational chain. A single clause entered incompletely or incorrectly (a cancellation policy, a payment due date, a child age range) can cascade all the way from booking to invoicing. That was exactly the subject of this month’s internal training session: Reading hotel contracts correctly, and entering them correctly.
Who took part
Twenty engineers from our team joined the session, to get first-hand exposure to the domain knowledge behind the modules they build. It ran as a full day at our Antalya Technopark office in a fully hands-on format, facilitated by an experienced domain expert.
How the programme ran
We structured the day in four parts:
- 1Opening session: Where contract management sits in the operational flow, plus the most common mistakes and what they cost.
- 2Critical points on real contracts: A line-by-line read of payment terms, cancellation policies, release periods and service details on real (anonymized) contracts.
- 3Hands-on work in the platform: Entering the same contracts together in the Octopus Plus Hotel module, taking price periods, allotment and margin setup end to end through four-eyes approval.
- 4Q&A: The most productive part of the day, spent on real scenarios brought in from the field.
What we learned
Three takeaways came out of the day: A shared checklist for a contract’s critical clauses visibly lowers the error rate; four-eyes approval during data entry is not only a control but a learning mechanism; and while AI-assisted contract reading removes the heaviest data entry load, the final check always belongs to a human.

This workshop was the first in our internal training series. Two more sessions are planned for the coming period, on allotment management and cancellation scenarios. Participant feedback is already pointing the way: “More real scenarios, more hands-on time.”
